Who are we and what do we do?

Addictive Eaters Anonymous General Service Committee (AEA GSC) is the representative body of the worldwide fellowship of Addictive Eaters Anonymous. We are run by members in a voluntary capacity.

 

The right to anonymity is a core principle of Addictive Eaters Anonymous. AEA GSC fully respects your rights to privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information by strictly adhering to privacy laws, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

 

This Privacy Policy explains when and how we collect, process and use your data and sets out our security practices. The Privacy Policy is primarily directed to individuals who wish to contact us to seek information, to seek assistance, to locate meetings or to attend events.

AEA GSC collects personally identifiable information that you provide to us, which is information that identifies you as an individual. This information may include your name, address or location, email address and phone number.

How we use your personal information and the legal basis for doing so

Any personal information that you provide will be used only for the purpose of providing the services and supports that we offer. We are not affiliated with any other companies, bodies or entities of any kind and we will never share or disclose your personal data or information with any third parties outside of Addictive Eaters Anonymous.

As engagement with Addictive Eaters Anonymous is entirely voluntary, AEA GSC processes personal information based on your consent.

We may use the information:

  • to provide you with details of meetings

  • to provide you with any information that you request

  • to respond to your requests

  • to improve our level of service

 

Retention of information

We may retain your information for as long as needed to provide you services, comply with our legal obligations and resolve disputes. 

If you fill in our online web form requesting to be added to our mailing list for our monthly web event, your email address will be retained for the purpose of sending a monthly Zoom link to enable you to attend. You can request to be removed from the mailing list at any time. You can be added to the mailing list again at any time by reentering your details on the web event registration form. 

You can opt out of receiving communications from us at any time by emailing contact@aeainfo.org.

 

How we protect your personal information

AEA GSC will take all appropriate legal, organisational, and technical measures to protect your personal information.

We never share your personal information with any third parties. In accordance with our Traditions, we are not associated with, or affiliated to, any other body, entity or organisation of any kind.

  • Right of access - you have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you

  • Right of rectification - you have the right to correct data that we hold about you that is inaccurate or incomplete

  • Right to erasure - in certain circumstances, you can ask for the data we hold about you to be erased from our records

  • Right of portability - subject to certain restrictions, you have the right to have the data we hold about you transferred to another organisation or to receive a copy of the information where we hold it in electronic form.

  • Right to object - you have the right to object to certain types of processing. Please note that we do not engage in direct marketing of any kind and do not disclose or share your personal data with any third party. Any correspondence that we send you will be requested directly by you.

We also automatically collect information about your computer browser type and operating system, websites you visited before and after visiting our websites, standard server log information, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. We aggregate this information to understand how our visitors use our website so that we can improve it and the services we offer. These analytics do not typically identify individual users.

Our website is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to provide information and support to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.
